New Providence, N.J. - March 18, 2008 - Bowker, the global leader in bibliographic information management, today announced that Chuck Lamantia has been appointed Canadian account manager for the company’s supply chain group.
In his new role, Lamantia will be responsible for managing Bowker’s Pubnet and PubEasy businesses in the Canadian market, managing the company’s relationships with publishers, retailers, technology vendors and industry organizations. He will also oversee efforts to accelerate the adoption of EDI trading on Pubnet by higher education campus stores throughout Canada.
Lamantia is a veteran of the publishing industry in Canada. Prior to joining Bowker, he was an advertising sales representative for Osprey Media, sales and marketing manager for National Book Service, technology sales manager for Scholastic Publishing, senior sales representative for McGraw-Hill, marketing manager for Harcourt Brace Publishing and sales supervisor for Times Mirror Professional Publishing. He brings to Bowker more than 20 years of sales, marketing and product development experience in the Canadian publishing industry.
“We’re delighted to have a person with Chuck’s book experience representing us in the Canadian market,” said Charles Halpin, director of market development for Bowker’s supply chain group. “His knowledge of our customers’ businesses and the Canadian book industry gives Chuck a unique understanding of our customers’ needs, which is the foundation of everything we do.”
According to Halpin, Lamantia will be working closely with BookNet Canada, the Canadian agency dedicated to innovation in the book industry supply chain. Last summer, BookNet Canada signed a five-year extension of its agreement that designates Pubnet as the exclusive Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) vendor for the Canadian book publishing industry.
Lamantia is based in the Toronto area and will report to David Campbell, senior account manager for Bowker’s supply chain business unit. Chuck can be reached at 877.428.1990.
