Bowker and Choice to Launch RCL: Career Resources
New comprehensive recommendations for monographs, textbooks and online resources for community, vocational, or technical college faculty and students

Bethesda, MD - March 5, 2009 - Bowker, the global leader in bibliographic information management solutions and services for libraries, publishers and retailers worldwide, and Choice, the internationally recognized academic book review journal, today announced the launch of Resources for College Libraries (RCL): Career Resources.

Available in print and online with Bowker’s Book Analysis System, RCL: Career Resources is a comprehensive collection development tool featuring 5,000 carefully selected core titles in 57 career related subjects such as Allied Health, Building and Construction Trades, Engineering and Technology, and Graphic and Apparel Arts. Compiled by an expert editorial team of nearly 60 subject editors, the collection includes traditional monographs, textbooks and online resources. More information regarding RCL: Career Resources, including a complete list of subjects and subject experts, is available at www.rclinfo.net/career.

“RCL: Career Resources has been carefully developed by an expert editorial team that includes some of the most highly trusted and experienced subject matter experts in the community, vocational and technical academic library community,” said Irving Rockwood, editor and publisher of Choice, a publication of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL). “Libraries can rely on RCL Career Resources as a collection assessment tool, while faculty can use it to help develop their curriculum and select the most appropriate materials to complement their other instructional resources.”

As the premier core list for academic libraries, RCL: Career Resources is the result of a unique collaboration between Choice, a publishing division of ACRL, and Bowker. The new offering is an extension of the base RCL product, which was introduced to the academic library community in November of 2006. RCL is a Web-based database of core titles for academic libraries that served as an online successor to the classic reference work, Books for College Libraries (BCL), 3rd Edition, which was last published in 1988.

The online version of RCL: Career Resources will be available in May 2009 and the print edition will be available for purchase in the summer of 2009. Special advance pricing and discount incentives are available. For the online edition, customers who order by March 29, 2009 will save 15%, or those who order by April 31, 2009 will save 10%. Current RCLweb customers have the option to add the new content as an upgrade. For more information, please visit www.rclinfo.net/career/.

“Bowker is very pleased to launch these offerings with Choice,” says Michael Ornstein, vice president of sales at Bowker. “Together, we will continue to enhance the value of our RCL products and services to meet the increasingly dynamic needs of our library customers.”
