What is Bowker's Book Analysis System (BBAS)?
Book Analysis System is the only collection analysis tool licensed to use Resources for College Libraries (the definitive core list for academic libraries). This customizable, self-service analysis tool will eliminate the need for manual comparison and reduce human error associated with one-by-one title look-ups. Leveraging the enriched data in BooksInPrint®, the Bowker Book Analysis System enables the most comprehensive look at your collection because your collection will be compared to all editions and formats of each title. Why do I need a Book Analysis System?
With the ever changing economy, publishing industry and shrinking budgets it has been increasing more difficult to determine where your money should be spent. Book Analysis allows you to see yourcollection from a high level and then allows you to drill down to specifics within subjects. This enables you to see where it would be best to spend your budget money.
2009 saw book production rise to over 1 million* new titles and editions published annually. The number of U.S. publishers also continues to rise -- reaching over 264,000 in 2011**. Book Analysis System uses four matching methods to compare your collection to the core list: 1) ISBN; 2) LCCN & Title & Author; 3) Title & Author; or 4) LCCN & Title. Yes, when you click on File Download and select the ISBN-13 file, the first number is a unique identifier, the 2nd numbers are the 10-digit ISBN, and the 3rd numbers are the 13-digit ISBN.
