FAQs: GlobalBooksInPrint.com
return to list of GlobalBooksInPrint.com FAQ topics General Questions What are Bowker Subject Headings? Bowker subjects are modeled on LC, but are not an exact match for LC. They are "LC style" in that they are of the form "subject--subdivision--subdivision--etc", and we use LC phrasing (like "Algebras, Linear" instead of "Linear Algebra"), but we are less specific than LC. What is a BISAC subject heading? BISAC stands for "Book Industry Standards and Communications". It is used for merchandising themes and lists, and for providing guidance to the implementation and use of the lists by publishers, retailers, and other interested parties. How do you define "Market"? "Market" simply refers to country-specific information for an item (book, audio, and video). Country-specific information that can vary from market to market for the same item or ISBN includes things such as Publisher, Pub Date, Status, Price, Age/Grade Level -- even Series Title information may vary. How many Markets does Global Books in Print include? 43 markets. Do you have a product for patrons?
