“Copyright protection enables authors and publishers to protect and enforce their rights from piracy and illegal copies,” said Beat Barblan, Director of Identifier Services at Bowker.  “We’re excited to team with Digi-Rights to launch the CopyrightsNow App. We’re impressed by its ability to simplify application for federal copyright protection in minutes – eliminating lengthy forms and complex procedures. This service offers an important value to authors and publishers.”

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with Bowker® to offer their self-published authors and publishers this mobile tool,” said Dick Stahl, Managing Director of Digi-Rights® Direct LLC. “CopyrightsNow enables authors and creators to lock-in copyright protection for life plus 70 years without the paperwork and complexities.”

Copyright is a form of Intellectual Property, along with trademarks and patents that encourages the development of culture, science and innovation, while providing a potential financial benefit to copyright holders for their works. Under U.S. copyright law, authors must register copyrights within 3-months of publication and before any infringement occurs to preserve their rights to claim up to $150,000 in statutory damages plus attorney fees in enforcing their copyright claims. The CopyrightsNow App enables authors and publishers to manage their copyright application simply, from their iPhone, iPad and Android device with the speed and security of a cloud service.
