Software Company Incorporates Metadata Provided by Bowker to Increase Coverage of U.S. Titles in Start-Up for Book Buyers

New Providence, NJ, August, 31, 2016 – Allied Commerce Inc. is the latest in a series of tech companies turning to Bowker to connect them with metadata to enhance their media businesses. To expand their coverage of U.S. titles in a new program for book buyers, Allied Commerce is integrating titles, cover images, and ISBNs provided by Bowker, a ProQuest affiliate and the retail agent for ProQuest’s renowned metadata.

Allied Commerce, known as a provider of automation solutions for mid-to-large sized ECommerce retailers, is building a website and mobile app that allows users to search for books by scanning an ISBN bar code. The user then receives a list of local bookstores that sell the book. The back office software integrates with inventory systems from booksellers to maintain a database of the books in stock at various bookstores.

"Allied Commerce was driven to partner with Bowker because of their unrivaled bibliographic information solutions,” said Andrew Muia, Product Manager at Allied Commerce. “We are thrilled to work with them to provide comprehensive content including pictures, tables of content, reviews, citations and more that will allow our users to make informed purchasing decisions.”

Bowker collaborates with thousands of publishers, retailers, libraries and search engines worldwide to make their media collections – whether print or digital – easily discovered, evaluated and selected by users. The seminal Books In Print® database is used by customers to enhance their collections, embedding them with rich details and real-time updates that capture new title releases.

Bowker offers a variety of data and delivery options for any organization that needs information about physical or digital media to power its business.
