PubEasy® Integrates Batch Services

New Integration Allows Publishers to Create and Send Invoices that
Booksellers can View, Verify and Pay Electronically

New Providence, N.J. USA– October 10, 2003 - PubEasy®, the 24/7 online customer self-service center built to further supply chain efficiency in the global publishing industry, has finalized an agreement at the Frankfurt Book Fair to fully integrate PubEasy and Batch services to create an end-to-end publishing supply chain solution.

“This integration is a bold step forward in the vision of an integrated electronic supply chain in the publishing industry," said Michael Cairns, President of R.R. Bowker the parent company of PubEasy.

The joint venture provides an efficient single inquiry and payment solution for the entire European book industry via the Web, EDI (electronic data exchange) and other electronic methodologies.

“This is the reality with linking Batch and PubEasy. Joining the two systems [PubEasy and Batch] means that users will be able to move seamlessly between both services giving greatly improved functionality.”

This improved functionality transparently combines traditional PubEasy services with Batch services, which allow publishers to automatically create and send electronic invoices that booksellers can view, verify and pay.

Mr. Tanner best explains this improvement with the example, “now a user can move from an invoice back to purchase order details and delivery receipts, answering all their questions on screen in one session to facilitate the payment of this invoice."

Looking ahead both PubEasy and Batch are working on improving services to further supply chain efficiency within the book/publishing industry and see further opportunities to do so together.
