TLC Offers Enhanced Content to School Libraries

Syndetics agreement part of continuing mission
to offer automation solutions to school

Inwood, WV - July 3, 2002

School libraries can now enjoy the benefits of enriched Public Access Catalog (PAC) content, thanks to a revised agreement between The Library Corporation (TLC) and Syndetic Solutions.

Previously, TLC offered the enhanced content through Syndetics for its integrated automated system for public libraries, LibraryoSolution. The new agreement enables TLC to continue the company’s focus on the school library market by offering the content in SchoolLibrary•Solution. The new Syndetics agreement is only part of the company’s continuing mission to address the unique needs of school libraries. TLC formed a special Schools Division in 2001. SchoolLibrary•Solution, TLC’s centralized automation solution, is used by some of the largest school districts in the country. The company also recently formed a partnership with Surpass Software to offer a distributed school automation solution to school districts not interested in centralized automation.

TLC's contract with Syndetic Solutions integrates the following content into the SchoolLibrary•Solution PAC:

	Cover Images of Book Jackets		First Chapters and Excerpts
	Tables of Contents		Publishers Weekly Reviews
	Summaries		Library Journal Reviews
	Annotations		School Library Journal Reviews
	Fiction and Biography Profiles		Booklist Reviews
	Series Information		Author Notes

Syndetic Solutions is the leading provider of specialized bibliographic data and enrichment. The company will continue to supply additional content weekly to TLC. Content is delivered automatically from TLC’s content server each time a student conducts a search using the library catalog, making it an easy enhancement for school libraries.
